SW Florida International Airport....busiest year in its history.
Southwest Florida International Airport marked its busiest year in its 33 year history in 2015.
In addition to the connector road off I-75, the terminal access road is being widened to 3 lanes this year. There are plans for a new $47 million tower and a second runway is scheduled for late 2020's.
The 4.9 million visitors to Lee County spent close to $3 billion in 2015, the majority of visitors were from the US, followed by Germany, Canada and the UK.
Lee County is growing in all directions. The redevelopment of the Bonita Springs historic downtown area along Old US 41 is underway. The Riverside Park along the Imperial River will be easier to get to and enjoy the outdoor concerts due to the increased parking and streetscaping. New commercial and residential development is also anticipated.
New apartment complexes and multifamily projects are on the uptick in Estero, primarily due to the ever increasing demand for students looking for housing nearby Florida Gulf Coast University.
Did you know that Cape Coral is the 10th largest city in Florida? The city boasts a population of 170,000 and has a potential to grow to 400,000. The north Cape is especially attracting the commercial sector surrounding the new Lee County VA Healthcare Center and the Cape Coral Army Reserve Center.
