Sarasota Medieval Fair
Welcome to the Sarasota Medieval Fair!
Come one, come all to the annual Sarasota Medieval Fair! This year’s theme is the Scottish vs. English. The battle will soon be waged, but only one country can come away victorious!
Watch history unfold as you watch the reenactment of King Edward II ordering his men to cross the river, and Robert the Bruce of Scotland commanding his forces to charge the English cavalry. The Scots are greatly outnumbered, but they fight bravely- so fair maiden or knight, choose your side wisely.
Want to take it to the next level? Guests are welcome to come attired in medieval costumes, provided they are family-friendly, but fair warning, you may be mistaken for one of the cast! On that note, dive into the splendor of the festival by interacting with the cast, asking questions, and indulging in the sumptuous feast of foods and merchandise that will be available.
This huge three weekend event features talented artisans, performers and merchants peddling the finest jewelry, wooden swords, and period clothing around! In addition, go back in time and check out the talented works and demonstrations of the local blacksmith, candle maker, leather crafter, cobbler, and weaver.
And when you inevitably get hungry smelling all the delicious food, try a turkey leg, Jesters dogs, shepherd pie, sausage roll, haggis and chips, or a giant funnel cake! For the older lords and ladies, beer, wine and mead will also be available.
Live the majesty and insanity of knights, jesters, minstrels, belly dancers, wenches, and sword swingers! Watch the full contact joust and human combat chess tournaments! Don’t miss the opportunity to see The Knights of Valour jousting troupe as led by Shane Adams. Shane was the host and executive producer of The History Channel's competitive reality TV show Full Metal Jousting.
There will be free activities and presentations designed specifically for the children of the realm. These include Medieval Manners, Storytime, Wishing Web, and a Coat of Arms Academy!
